
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964) is an American actress, choreographer, dancer, and activist. Her breakthrough role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez was nominated to win the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Fearless (1993). Perez has appeared in a number of films since her time in the film which include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994), and another nomination for her role as The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). Her roles have included Broadway stage plays , including The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. She also co-hosted on the ABC talk show The View during the series' 18th season. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. [11] In 1999, her mother was living in the middle class of Woodside Houses when she died of AIDS-related complications.
